Puddlejumpers

Megan is doing wonderful with potty training. She even resists going potty before leaving the house because she wants to go potty in public restrooms! This is not something I promote, but I am relieved she is not scared of going to the bathroom elsewhere. She will go potty without being prompted, but doesn’t dump the potty out of her chair and into the toilet unless I tell her.

Unfortunately, over the last two days, I’ve caught Isaac playing with the empty potty chairs (one upstairs and one downstairs); the potty chair also doubled as his stool with the lid closed.

It had been raining and I indulged the kids in letting them splash in the rain puddles. So then I walked in the living room to see the (hardwood) floor wet and Megan and Isaac jumping around, Isaac exclaiming “Look mom! We’re splashing in puddles!” They were drenched.

I took away Megan’s “privilege” of using a potty chair so she now has to go in the toilet. It has only been a day and a half, but she has been okay with it so far. She had resisted the toilet before, but I think the elimination of the choice of potty chair and also her eagerness to use the toilet in public has made her more willing.

Hi Julie,

Heather is that way about public restrooms too. She always likes to be anywhere but home, so I guess that's why she prefers public bathrooms to our own. It still took us until earlier this year (at 4 and a half) to PT her.
