Dance Praise
*One night, a guy told me he only came that night to see if "the tiny dancer" was there. And so my nickname was established. Two weeks later, he brought a co-worker to the dance hall just to meet me; the guy didn't dance, but he said he just had to see this "tiny dancer" for himself.
*I am growing more accustomed to people watching me. It used to make me self-conscious and embarrassed, but now it's rather flattering knowing people are watching and admiring my dancing.
*One spectator stopped me and my dance partner as we were walking out the door and absolutely gushed with compliments on how amazing we were. He was shocked we weren't entering the dance contest.
*One of my favorite leads always acts intimidated to dance with me. It's crazy since I think he is such a great dancer.
*"I've been watching you dance for the last three weeks at X, Y, and Z, and you are amazing!" (X, Y, and Z indicating three different venues. That was the week a friend was in town and I was going wherever everyone was meeting.)
*Walking through a crowd, someone stopped me to tell me what a beautiful dancer I was. Happens all the time.
*"You need to dance with my friend. He is a great dancer!" another stranger said.
*The doorman at my regular venue waved me through past the long line of people without asking for my ID. I missed the VIL night to get a card for free-entrance, and the doorman said he'd get one for me. Now I get in even on days that are not free-ladies-night.
*I went into the bathroom to fix my hair that came undone, and all the girls gather around me and told me they loved the way I danced. Happens all the time.
*In regards to taking a west coast class and coming to the Tuesday night venue: "you are the first person, outside of my family, to actually motivate and inspire me to follow something through and find time to do it. You are just amazing and must have that effect on a lot of people."
*"Will you teach my boyfriend a few moves?"
*"You are so graceful!" (I like this one. I hear it a lot.)
*"You have wonderful posture and you look like you glide across the floor." (I like that one a lot too.)
*Rex came with me to Midnight Rodeo and I am the least inhibited when I dance with him, so naturally I make him look good. One night, to our amazement, one of the waitresses came over and said that a man offered to buy us some drinks. (We got water, which is not free.) Later, the man came over and introduced himself, saying that he was so impressed with how well we danced.
*I am learning the lead for many different dances. I am new at this and it is confusing switching back and forth from lead to follow, not to mention actually using my brain while I dance. Since I am so new, I lack confidence right now, but more and more women are telling me "wow, you are better than most men!" Of course this makes my confidence grow, and I think I'm getting better and better, even though I don't have the opportunity to be the lead as much as I do the follow.
