A penny saved is a penny earned

I've read about people who buy hundreds of dollars of groceries for pennies, but I don't see how they get that far on so little. Maybe $50 for $300 of groceries.... But maybe it's true. We'll see how good I get at this game in time.

In the meantime, I'm really getting into it. If you want to save lots of money, I recommend http://www.pinchingyourpennies.com/index.php . They have tons of info and lots of links to specific coupons and deals. They match coupons with sales and have great tips and advice.

CVS has this program called Extra Care Bucks (ECB) where you buy certain products and they give you credit back in the form of coupons to use later on any product in their store. These coupons print 2 days later either from your computer or on your next receipt at the store. Last month, they had a bunch of products that earned you ECBs for the full price of the item making them free! I was able to roll over the ECBs many times to get tons of free shampoo, conditioner, feminine hygiene products, and toothpaste – all for only my initial $25.

Walgreens had a bunch of rebate deals, including ones where you buy $20 worth of certain products and you get a rebate of $10 back. After the rebate, I got a lot of stuff for a little money.

Walgreens and target let you use both store coupons and manufacture coupons on the same item. That's how I saved so much on Luvs diapers at target. Sale price $14 - $3 manufacture coupon - $2 store coupon = $9 for a box of 104 diapers (originally 120 diapers but they've been sneaky by decreasing the amount in the box!)

I’ve also sent in the rebate forms for little items like batteries, catsup, frosting, cereal, etc. An item might only net me a dollar, but a dollar is a dollar!

Of course I don't buy stuff I wouldn't use or need. That would be pointless. But it turns out that the coupons you get in the Sunday paper more than pay for the cost of the paper.
