Apparently, our credit rating is so good that we not only qualify for a $130K home loan based on our numbers, but we also don't even have to provide proof of income or anything else!
I had found out about another job fair in San Antonio the weekend before it was to occur. But we didn't know if principals would be there to interview for teaching positions or if it would solely be attended by Human Resource reps from the different districts. There was a lot of tension in our house the morning we would have to decide if we would make the trek out again, but after many futile phone calls for more information, Rex decided to skip this one and felt that it was not going to be worth the trip. I was frustrated with him, feeling he was not doing all he could do. And of course he was frustrated with me for pressuring him. He put his foot down and I let it go. Of course I should trust his judgement more; this is his call and he is head of the house.
A few hours later, our prayers were answered. The principal of Burke Elementary left a message for Rex to call him back. Rex had gone to work at the YMCA Day Camp and was out at the "camp" so I was anxiously watching the clock for him to return to "base." When he finally got the chance to call the principal, she offered him the 4th grade position for which he'd interviewed with them at the last fair. He'd interviewed with them at their first fair and then they sought him out of the crowd to interview him again at the second fair. I don't know if the thank you notes we wrote made any difference; I think they wanted him anyway; this was the first day the position was open and she told him she had to submit his name to HR for approval but he was as good as hired.
Now that Rex got the job, we know what end of town we should focus on and can start on the next step of our exodus. After we get the green light from HR, Rex can sign papers and we can look for a house. Then all we have to do is get a buyer for our condo.
