The Alamo

We've wanted to go visit the Alamo since we moved here. But, like all museums, it is boring for the kids. I remember when we came to visit when James was 2 and we all went to the Alamo; everyone got to read the plaques and learn about the history, but I had to chase my son around the building and courtyard the whole time. So after 2 years of living here, thanks to wonderful grandparents that don't mind babysitting, Rex and I got to see the Alamo and I finally found out what it was all about.

The grounds at the Alamo are gorgeous! I don't think it is subject to the water restrictions of San Antonio. While everything else is dying around town, we will certainly not let the Alamo die again!

Even this bench had the distinctive Alamo hump on it. Just call me Vanna White.

Afterwards, we walked along the Riverwalk for a bit, and watched this man with birds on his arms. Made me think of Mary Poppins!
