Ear Infection

I spoke too soon. I had to take Isaac to the doctor today for shots but I didn't know Megan's ear hurt until it was too late to take her with me. They probably would have refused to see her at his appointment anyway. And even if they did, I'm sure they would have turned her away like doctors do to me and say that since she had no fever, she couldn't have an ear infection. They said they won't have an opening for 2-3 weeks anyway. Of course I could ask them to put me on a waiting list for cancellations. But even so, I doubt we'd get seen. And they wouldn't know if it was viral or bacterial.

Then tonight, after Rex left for the temple, it got 100 times worse and she screamed for two hours, completely inconsolable. I went downstairs and asked the guys (who happen to be in the singles ward) to give her a blessing. I don't know if I made it worse, but I tried giving her Similasan Earache Relief drops because she was actually asking for medicine. It was almost immediately after the drops that she started screaming. (Of course she begged me to clean her ear afterwards but I wouldn't so that the ear drops would stay in. I've given her ear wax softening drops in the past and she miraculously laid still on my lap till I told her she could get up. I hope she will not be scared of ear drops in the future like I am; I jump at every drop when Rex puts the softener in my ear--my ear wax doesn't naturally come out like it's supposed to and it hardens and gets packed instead.) The package says "initial exacerbation of symptoms may occur" so I think that is what happened and then it healed itself. If so, it worked mighty fast, or the faith of a little child did. I've been reluctant to try it but I have wanted to because it is a homeopathic remedy that might help viral infections, since I'm also reluctant to give antibiotics since I myself grew immune to them when younger. I really hope I did the right thing. After she finally calmed down, I put James to bed and then rocked her for another half hour till she was practically asleep in my arms. I pray that she will be able to sleep tonight and that James will actually let her sleep in tomorrow morning.
