Appalling Teacher Violation
My jaw dropped when I saw what the media did to teachers once again. The news broadcast and printed an article entitled Some Teachers Need Multiple Tries To Become Certified in which they provided a list of names of actual teachers in San Antonio and where they worked and how many times they took and failed these tests. At the end there is a one-liner that 97% of teachers pass on their first try, but that doesn't dispel the libel. No doubt that's going to cost them their jobs (there's probably 100 names on the list). The TV broadcast argued that students are required to pass their tests, so teachers should too. But students' scores are not released to the public, and they too are allowed many chances to make things up. They are even promoted to the next grade despite failing, because the law doesn't allow students to fail more than one year per grade level. Why the witch hunt? Why do they bend over backwards to make the heroes into villains? Don't they think it's enough that teachers are held accountable for the efforts their students make and the negligence of their parents? Don't they know that teachers have to walk on eggshells so they don't get fired? Why do they paint targets on their backs? What does society have against teachers?
