FIESTA!

They warned us about the crowds:

What happened? Where is everyone? Did the spittle of rain they call showers in Texas scare everyone off? Apparently, everything shuts down for the parade. The event we chose to go to was supposed to start at 10am and go till midnight. We got there at 1:30p. It was a ghost town. The entire downtown was empty except for the streets where the parade was happening. I hate parades. They are boring and you can't see anything. After trying to watch it for 10 minutes, the kids unanimously decided they wanted to go home or do something else. We were told the parade would last a couple hours and there was no way we could hold the kids' interest until it was over, so we had no other choice but to leave. At least we only had to spend $10 on parking. (The price would go up the later it got in the day.)

I'd had a hard time finding any information about the myriad of activities planned all over San Antonio. There was a list on fiesta-sa.org, but no information about each event. I googled them individually, but even then, there wasn't much information. For our first year trying to celebrate San Antonio's holiday, the Fiesta was more like a Siesta. (Or maybe I just have really bad timing. It would have been nice to get a schedule or something that said everything stopped while the parade marched through.) At least Isaac had the right spirit:
