Pesticides: So far, I've applied soapy water (heavily diluted) to the peppers/jalapeƱos with a tiny paint brush because they were starting to get aphids and were too delicate for much else. Even after the heavy rain, I saw some aphids coming back, so this is my first time spraying with orange oil. I have also planted trap plants of marigolds and nasturtiums throughout to combat spider mites and aphids respectively. When the soil dries out from the rain, I intend to try the diatomaceous earth in an attempt to kill the fire ants that have arrived. The pea plants were being devoured by green worms (can't remember what they are called) so I sprayed with BT and went out every morning to pluck off the ones I could find. I don't know if the rain washed them away or if the BT worked, but I haven't found any since (except a few brown dead ones one day which I hope means BT actually worked).
